the eighth season of the Pakistani music studio Coke Studio aired on August 16, 2015 and aired on October 4, 2015. Weekly episode broadcasts every Sunday in various channels across Pakistan. This season is revived with the The Sound of Nation tagline.

Producers debut season 7, Strings duo and regular producer Coca-Cola, continue their journey as producers this season. Previously, rumors were made that Rohail Hyatt would return as a producer this season but he denied rumors saying "Just for the record, I do not produce next season Coke Studio Pakistan (2015)....... want to produce my Coke Studio season 7 someday, I hope this can eliminate any confusion ".

The main bassist, Khalid Khan, was expelled from season 8 due to cervical pain; he was replaced by Kamran 'Mannu' Zafar. This season featured seven episodes consisting of thirty-one artists, thirteen musicians and twenty-eight songs.

Initial promo

On August 4, 2015, special awards for Sohail Rana and Masroor Anwar were presented by reproducing their patriotic song "Sohni Dharti" as part of the 68th Independence Day of Pakistan. The season also released a promo with awards under the tagline 'Celebrating Independence'. "Sohni Dharti" featured all the artists scheduled to line up for the season. The launch of promos and tributes was met with tremendous reception from around the world. "Sohni Dharti" became viral with within 24 hours of release, gaining wide recognition. The song is stated as "the best of what ever Coke Studio has to offer".

Reception

Season 8 became one of the most successful seasons of all time, earning the title of "Best of Coke Studio ever Offered". Many songs made headlines of newspapers and media outlets including Atif Aslam's praise of the popular qawali "Tajdare Haram" in recognition of its original performers, Sabri Brothers. The performance received a very positive response and the song earned more than 36 million views on YouTube.
