20 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Converse All Stars ...
src: www.refinedguy.com

Converse is an American shoe company that mainly produces skating shoes and lifestyle and clothing footwear. Founded in 1908, has been a subsidiary of Nike, Inc. since 2003.

During World War II, the company shifted its manufacturer from the public, and instead made footwear for the military. It was one of the few athletic shoe manufacturers and for over half a century the company dominated the American court shoe market. From the 1970s, the company lost its dominant position after other companies presented their own style.

Converse shoes are distinguished by a number of features, including the company's star symbol, All Star rubber sole, smooth round toe, and wrap-around strip.

Converse manufactures its products under the Cons brand name, Chuck Taylor All-Star, John Varvatos, and Jack Purcell. In addition to apparel and footwear, the company sells other goods through retailers in more than 160 countries and through approximately 75 retail stores owned by businesses across the United States, and employs 2,658 in the US by 2015.

Initial years

At the age of 47, Marquis Mills Converse, formerly a manager at a footwear manufacturing company, opened Converse Rubber Shoe Company in February 1908 in Malden, Massachusetts. The company is a manufacturer of rubber shoes, providing rubber-coated footwear for men, women, and children. In 1910, Converse produced shoes every day, but it was not until 1915 that the company began producing athletic shoes.

The company catalysts came in 1917 when Converse All-Star basketball shoes were introduced. Then in 1923, a basketball player named Charles H. "Chuck" Taylor walked to Converse complaining of his leg pain. Converse gave her a job: she worked as a salesman and ambassador, promoting shoes across the US, and in 1932, Taylor's signature was added to the All-Star patch on classic high topsy sneakers. He continued this work until shortly before his death in 1969. Converse also adapted the shoes for the New York Renaissance ("Rens"), the first professional basketball team in Africa-America. In 1962, the Philadelphia Warriors' Wilt Chamberlain center scored 100 points in the NBA game while wearing a pair of Chucks, winning 169-147 over the New York Knicks in Hershey, Pennsylvania on March 2.

1941-2001: War , rising, bankruptcy, and new management

When the US entered World War II in 1941, Converse shifted production to the manufacture of rubber boots, outerwear, and protective clothing to the military. The company re-produced athletic shoes after the war ended. Popular during the 1950s and 1960s, Converse promoted the American image with Converse Yearbook. Artist Charles Kerins created a cover art that celebrates Converse's role in the lives of high school and college athletes.

In the 1970s, Converse purchased Jack Purcell's trademark rights from B.F. Goodrich.

Converse lost their monopoly from the 1970s onwards, with new competitors, including Puma and Adidas, then Nike, then a decade later Reebok, which introduced the new design to the sports market. Converse finds themselves no longer the official shoes of the National Basketball Association (NBA), a title they have enjoyed for years.

The chevron and star insignia - the logo remaining in most Converse shoes other than All Star - was created by Jim Labadini, an employee.

The canvas-rubber shoe was popular again in 1980 as a casual shoe, but Converse eventually became too dependent on the "All Stars" brand, whose market collapsed in 1989-1990. In 2000, Converse slipped repeatedly to the curator because debts pile up every year.

Converse filed for bankruptcy on January 22, 2001. Shortly thereafter, on March 30, its last manufacturing plant in the US, shut down, because production completely moved abroad. In April 2001, Footwear Acquisitions, led by Marsden Cason and Bill Simon, bought the brand from bankruptcy and added Jack Boys, Jim Stroesser, Lisa Kempa and David Maddocks to lead the Native American Sports Company.

Nike

In July 2003, Nike paid $ 309 million to acquire Converse. Nike approached a 1980s revival around 2010 to relaunch footwear. Nike also extends the Converse brand to businesses other than shoes, like other brands.

In November 2012, Converse completely disappeared from the NBA, as a dozen players using the brand left the NBA or changed shoes for a year and a half. Carlos Arroyo went abroad in late 2011, and Maurice Evans last played for the Washington Wizards in April 2012. Nine switched to Nike: Acie Law (who went overseas) in late 2011; JJ Barea and Kirk Hinrich during the 2011-12 season; Luke Harangody and Larry Sanders after this season; Elton Brand, Louis Williams, and Kyle Korver for the 2012-13 season; and Chris Andersen during this season. Udonis Haslem, the last NBA player to wear Converse on the pitch, followed Miami Heat teammate Dwyane Wade to switch to Li-Ning in late November.

Celebrities who have used Converse include Snoop Dogg, Kristen Stewart and Rihanna. Converse's growth as a casual fashion accessory contributes up to $ 1.7 billion in revenues in 2014 and $ 2 billion by 2015.

New headquarters

In January 2013, Converse announced plans to build a new headquarters, and moved in April 2015. It was built near North Station in downtown Boston, at Lovejoy Wharf, overlooking the Charles River as part of major site improvements and restoring public waterfront access. The 214,000-square-foot office building (19,900m 2 ) includes a permanent music recording studio for the new "Converse Rubber Tracks" project, 5,000 square feet (460 m 2 ) gym with a separate yoga studio designed in partnership with Nike, and a new retail store of 3,500 square feet (330 m) 2 ).

Chuck Taylor All Star II

The improved Chuck Taylor All-Star model, Chuck Taylor II , was announced by the company's management in July 2015. Chuck Taylor II was released on July 28, 2015 Combining Nike technology, retaining the most original outer appearance while using the insole modern lightweight lunarlons. the important changes made to new sneakers are the removal of wrappers around the lane, premium canvas with high quality stitching and tongue without slippage.

Skateboard Market

Under the name of "CONS", Converse launched its skateboard program in 2009 with "ambassador" teams: Kenny Anderson, Anthony Pappalardo, Nick Trapasso, Sammy Baca, Ethan Fowler, Raymond Molinar, and Rune Glifberg.

In 2012, the company added Jason Jessee and Mike Anderson to his ambassador team.

In August 2012, Converse sponsored a skate event in Huntington Beach, California, USA. Trapasso, Tom Remillard, Aaron Homoki, Greyson Fletcher, Ben Raemers, Ben Hatchell, Robbie Russo and Ben Raybourn participated in the competition. Raybourn eventually won a $ 20,000 prize and Homoki won the Best Trick contest for $ 3,000.

In July 2014, the CONS skateboard team consisted of original members of Anderson, Trapasso, Baca, and Glifberg, while Jessee, Anderson, Julian Davidson, Remillard, Basset Zered, Ben Raemers, Jake Johnson, Eli Reed, Louis Lopez, Sage Elsesser and Sean Pablo was added. Bassett filmed a new ad that was broadcasted online during July 2014, where he played skateboarding through New York City in a new skate shoe version that was launched from the Converse Weapon model, "CONS Weapon Skate."

Claim

Starting in July 2008, Converse sent about 180 correspondence letters and broke up to more than 30 other companies they claim to have violated the alleged Chuck Taylor All Star trademark and sold similar sneakers.

In October 2014, Converse filed a lawsuit against 30 companies for allegedly breaking the legs of generic sneaker style bumpers, midsole lines and foot caps. This brand is of the opinion that the company infringes on allegedly legal trademarks by importing sneakers with the same element. A number of companies settled with Converse and they were dropped from the list.

In November 2015, Charles Bullock, chief administrative judge at the International Trade Commission, had earlier ruled that some of the Converse brands submitted violated the Converse outsole design trademark, the pattern at the bottom of the sole of the shoe. Judge Bullock further decided that while the Skechers brand "Twinkle Toes" did have something in common with Converse, "Twinkle Toes" was quite different and was marketed in a way that was not wrong for Chuck Taylor All-Stars. Judge Bullock also ruled that most of the shoes sold by Highline United under the Ash brand are not infringing and that Converse has no valid legal marks for its midsole.

On June 23, 2016, ironically on the anniversary of the death of Chuck Taylor, the International Trade Commission ruled that the alleged Converse clothing suit for the midsole design of the combined foot cap, the toe bumper, and the line was not entitled to trademark protection under common law and found brand registrations invalid federal Converse trades. The case is currently filing an appeal to the US Court of Appeal for Federal Circuitry. The oral hearing in the appeal was made on February 8, 2018. The decision in the appeal was pending.

I worked in carpentry about two years ago, through a friend of mine I was skating on a daily basis - he turned into a carpenter. So he gave me this wooden box, and, basically, I just wanted to do something with him... make something with him. It obviously started to eat me like a skating. I want to read about it, you know? Go on the internet and watch a video about it, and just learn anything and everything I can about woodworking. The first thing I ever made was a bench, and that, rather, what I've made since then. cool stuff about working with Products (RED) just by doing two things I like, I can also help people.
