Histori

Rue107 was founded by Marie Jean-Baptiste in New York City. Explaining why he decided to create a company, Baptiste stated that he "always has an entrepreneurial spirit" and that a mentor helped introduce him to stretch the fabric, resulting in him making a unique outfit. Prior to Rue107, Baptiste was a Licensed Practical Nurse, while planning to create his business. He put his business in July 2011, and spent the previous year testing the market. Baptiste cites his reason for offering clothing for any size because he grew up in Haiti, where the standard of beauty for him is not determined by size. In particular, he says that beauty is defined by how people carry themselves.
