BVD is a men's underwear brand, commonly referred to as "BVDs." This brand was founded in 1876 and is named after three founders of New York City Bradley, Voorhees & Day (thus "B.V.D."). The term is then used, but not true, for any underwear popularized by BVD. The BVD brand, originally produced for men and women, is now produced only for men by Fruit of the Loom.

Histori

BVD was first produced for women. They then became famous for their men's uniforms made of heavy knit fabrics. In 1908, the large and tight garment turned into a new kind of loose underwear. They then introduced two-piece suits and popular guild clothes, as well as lightweight waffle fabrics with advertising slogans, "On My Side I Love The Best BVD."

In early 1930 BVD was purchased by Atlas Apparel company Piqua, Ohio. During the Great Depression they succeeded in making swimwear for men, women and children. They patented their own cloth, Sea Satin, rayon woven satin supported with latex for stretching. They also use knitted cotton, wool and rayon, and plastic. Their swimsuits are featured in big fashion magazines and high fashion stores. Styles include fit maillot shape and full swimsuit swimsuit. They offer clothes for men with removable tops. In 1929, Olympic swimmer Johnny Weissmuller, later to become the most famous Tarzan in the film, was hired as a model and representative. She is featured on swimming events across the country by wearing BVD swimsuits, handing out flyers and signing autographs.

In 1951, this brand was bought by Superior Mills. BVD first started packing in plastic bags for mass market. In the 1960s and 1970s, they began to introduce fashionable, pocket shirts, and fashionable clothes made of nylon. In 1976, BVD was bought by Fruit of the Loom, which brought the brand to the world market. On April 9, 2002, Berkshire Hathaway bought Fruit of the Loom.
