Plot

Julius is an ambitious packaging designer, partner at a prestigious company. He had an affair in Paula, his 12-year-old wife, with his secretary. But when, on their wedding day, she finds her love around Paula's neck, her life is a mess. He claimed to have a lover, who is a freelance artist who has no money. Julius moved, but found Stefan, the artist, and tried to share his apartment, calling himself "Daniel". The two men became friends, went to hockey games together, drank, and discussed life in general and women in particular. When Paula came to visit, Julius pretended to be eccentric, wore a gorilla mask all the time and refused to speak. Julius began transforming Stefan into a commercial artist, persuading him to give up his bohemian lifestyle and to dress and behave more like an entrepreneur. This caused Paula to lose interest and Julius began winning his back. Meanwhile Stefan interviews for work, one of which happens to be in the same design company in which Julius works.

In the last scene, Julius and Stefan meet at work. Stefan realizes he's been tricked. The two men had a confrontation with Stefan symbolically stripping into his underwear and Julius did the same. They laughed at each other. The movie ends with Paula arriving at the agency, unaware of what she will witness.

In the office building where Julius works there is an unusual elevator type known as a paternoster, consisting of a continuous chain of small elevators that move slowly enough for people to enter and exit on every floor. It's used for comic effects in movies, with Julius and Stefan having their arguments in their clothes in one car traveling down, while Paula will come to see Julius in one of his cars up. During the credit, the crew crossed the car when their name appeared on the screen.
