Brembo S.p.A. is an Italian automotive brake system manufacturer, especially for high-performance cars and motorcycles based in Bergamo, near Milan.

History
Brembo was founded in Bergamo, Italy in 1961. As soon as the company was formed, it specialized in disc brakes, which were imported from England at the time. The company signed a supply contract with Alfa Romeo in 1964. It became a component supplier of brakes for Moto Guzzi in 1966.
In the 1980s, Brembo began supplying BMW, Chrysler, Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Porsche with brakes. The company went public on the Milan Stock Exchange in 1995.
The company headquarters is located in Bergamo, and the company has more than 6,000 employees in Italy and in branches in Brazil, China, Japan, Mexico, USA, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the UK.
In 2000, Brembo purchased a UK-based racing and clutch brake manufacturer, AP Racing (formerly Automotive Products division).
On November 9, 2007, the division of Automotive Brake Component Hayes Lemmerz was acquired by a subsidiary in North America Brembo. Sales of approximately EUR39.6 million include production facilities in Homer, Michigan and Apodaca, Mexico and about 250 employees.
The official press release on May 21, 2014 announced the expansion of Michigan facilities amounting to EUR83 million. On December 2, 2014, Brembo announced plans to invest EUR32 million into its 31,500 square meter production facility, which is projected to produce 2 million aluminum calipers annually. The current expectation is the initial operation that begins in 2016 and full operations by the end of 2018.
Vice Chairman Brembo, Matteo Tiraboschi reported on March 5, 2015 the company's sales growth in 2014 by 15% to EUR1, 8 billion, and a 45% increase in net profit to EUR129.1 million. He also reported that the possibility to acquire assets is being explored, focusing on the automotive and aviation sectors.

Products
Brembo specializes in the performance of braking systems and components, as well as conducts research on the braking system. Brembo sells over 1,300 products worldwide, and is known for their aftermarket automotive brake components, including calipers, drums, rotors, and brakes. Except in the North American market, Brembo has a foundry factory that produces starting materials and supplying the factory. In all other markets, the company controls the entire production system from raw materials through distribution. The company has QS9000 and ISO 9001 certification.
Motorsport
Brembo brakes are also used by various Formula One teams including Ferrari, and brake suppliers from the majority of MotoGP teams (Nissin brakes are used by Gresini's squad in the 2014 season). Since the 2012 season, Brembo is also the official brake supplier for the IndyCar Series.
