Patrice A. Oppliger (born August 26, 1963), is an assistant professor of communications at Boston University College of Communication.
Oppliger has written extensively on the impact of popular culture during high school students, and has been consulted by the media on this issue. Interviewed by CNN on cyberbullying, Oppliger discusses the Mean Girls film, based on Queen Bees and Wannabes' book by Rosalind Wiseman. Oppliger accused the film of "fascinating bad manners", he went on to say that, "This book is a guide that helps the relationship between girls, movies, on the other hand, shows the positive side of being a cruel girl."
WFXT Fox25 News also interviewed Oppliger about the Rockport High School decision to ban female students wearing yoga pants. He said that schools should assess students on a "case by case basis" instead.
