Histori
Pendirian
La Perla was founded by Master Masotti's corset in 1954 in Bologna, Italy, where the traditions of silk factories and textile manufacturing began in the 17th century. While working in the local workshop, he was given the nickname "gold scissors" for his ability to cut and sew. As time goes by, Ada Masotti adjusts her corset skills with different types of underwear, creates style and redefines how clothing is considered and worn.
The company's name is inspired by a red velvet coated box, similar to a jewelry box, where the first collection is made. With perfect unanimity, the pearl ( la perla in Italian) is seen as a symbol of harmony, luxury and femininity.
Evolution
The Masotti family redefined underwear as a clothing accessory. There Masotti will hang cloth directly on a woman's body, reaching expert consciousness about the lines and movements. Beginning in the 1950s, when the female silhouette was emphasized in fashion, Ada Masotti searched for ingredients from Italy and international productions such as Leavers lace woven on Calais looms, called Dentelle de Calais, and tulle embroidered in Northern Italy and Switzerland.
To adapt to the bright fashion statement of the 1960s, La Perla launched a clothing line based on colorful patterns, flowers and checked alongside the more traditional white, black and nude. In the 1970s, La Perla introduced a silk triangle jersey bra, which allowed free flowing motions and reflected the mode preference for smaller busts. In 1978, La Perla launched a stretch of lace sets, echoing the day mode with attachment gowns and natural flowing lines.
During the mid-1960s, the founder decided to apply his knowledge of the female form to the beachwear sector, launching the first collection of bikinis and swimsuits.
International expansion
During the booming underwear that marked the 1980s fashion scene the company began its international expansion under the guidance of Alberto Masotti, the son of the founder. Alberto Masotti's wife, Olga Masotti, was employed by Ada Masotti as a designer in 1972. His work includes a number of innovative works. In 1983 La Perla introduced the bottom jacket, underwear designed to look under the era suit.
There Masotti also created La Perla Maison, a collection that features a variety of pure satin silk underwear with embroidery inserts and finishing
