fashion show (French dÃÆ' Â © filÃÆ' Â © de mode ) is an event held by fashion designers to show off their upcoming line of clothes during Fashion Week. Fashion show debut every season, especially Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter season. This is where the latest fashion trends are made. The two most influential fashion weeks are Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week, which is a semi-annual event. Also, Milan, London, Sibiu and Berlin have global interests.

In a typical fashion show, the models walk on the catwalk wearing the clothes made by the designer. Clothes are illuminated on the runway by lighting. The order in which each model comes out by wearing a particular outfit is usually planned in accordance with the designer's desired statement about their collection. It then comes to the audience to not only try to understand what the designers are trying to say by the way the collection is being presented, but also visually deconstruct each outfit and try to appreciate the detail and workmanship of each piece.

Sometimes, fashion shows take the form of installation, where the model is static, standing or sitting in a built environment. Various contemporary designers tend to produce their performances as theatrical productions with complicated sets and additional elements such as live music or various technological components such as holograms, for example.

Histori

Because "fashion show topics keep finding historians," the earliest history of the fashion show remains unclear.

In the 1800s, the "parade mode" periodically took place in Paris's couture parlor.

American retailers imported the concept of a fashion show in the early 1900s. The first American fashion show likely occurred in 1903 at the New York City store of the Ehrlich Brothers. In 1910, major department stores such as Wanamaker in New York City and Philadelphia also held a fashion show. This event shows a couture dress from Paris or a copy of their store; they aim to show the owner's appetite and capture the attention of female buyers.

In the 1920s, retailers across the United States held a fashion show. Often, the event is a theater, presented with narration, and organized around themes (eg Paris, China, or Russia). These shows enjoyed great popularity through medieval times, sometimes attracting thousands of customers and gawkers.

In the 1970s and 1980s, American designers began holding their own fashion show in private spaces separate from such retailers. However, in the early 1990s, many people in the fashion world began to rethink this strategy. After a few accidents during the show at a small and unsafe location, "the general sentiment was, 'We love fashion but we do not want to die for it,'" recalls Fern Mallis, then executive director of the American Fashion Designers Board. In response to this performance, the New York show was centered on Bryant Park during the fashion week in late 1993.

Lately from the 2000s to the present day, fashion shows are usually also filmed and appear on special television channels or even in documentaries.

In recent years, fashion shows have become increasingly cumbersome for many top labels, including an extensive set that often comes at a higher cost.

Fashion show in the 21st century

Some designers have attempted to modernize the style and presentation of fashion shows by integrating technological advances in an experimental way, such as including pre-recorded digital video as a background. During New York Fashion Week in 2014, designer Ralph Lauren presented his new Polo line for Spring 2015 in a water screen projection at Central Park Manhattan. Technological advances also allow a wider section of fashion industry followers to experience the show. In 2010, London Fashion Week was the first fashion week to allow watching the show through live streaming. Live streams from runway shows and mediated shows have now become commonplace.

Tom Ford made a music video with Lady Gaga for her Spring/Summer 2016 lady collection.
